Our Youth Cash 4 U Panel have given out small grants*  each year to a wide range of Youth-Led Projects to help increase youth volunteering in Gwent. One such project was the 'Newport Scout & Guide Gang Show' which was awarded £800 to cover costs of lighting and sound and costumes for the Gang Show to be held in June.

It is with deep regret and profound sadness that GAVO announces the passing of our Youth Volunteering Officer, Sian Sweet, after a short illness.

Sian joined GAVO in December 2005, initially working as a Grants Administrator responsible for a number of local and European funded grants in Blaenau Gwent. 10 years ago the opportunity arose for Sian to become an integral part of the Volunteering Team.  She also held a second job as a Records Clerk in Nevill Hall Hospital, for 18 months running alongs...

This year has been eventful for GAVO and the Third Sector. Together we have become a vital part of all Well Being Agenda's across the Gwent patch, readjusted to changes in direction in line with Welsh Government and the new Employability focus and dealt with continued austerity but I would like to outline how proud I am of GAVO and of our enthusiastic and vibrant Sector on its positivity and ability to adapt to the ever changing climate.
