The Taraggan Project
The Taraggan Project is a community allotment based in Bargoed, run by a small team of dedicated volunteers. The aim of the project is to offer horticultural opportunities to various schools, groups and users across the local communities to help them in their learning and development of growing vegetables and other food.
The project has recently secured funding to double its size and offer more opportunities to the local community. In order to get the site ready for its official opening at the beginning of July the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) have provided volunteers from across their offices in South East Wales to assist in this mammoth task.
During May 2016, twenty two DWP employees have given their time and engaged in preparing the site by helping paint the boundary fencing and tidy the site. Their help has been very much appreciated by the team at Taraggan, who could not have completed the necessary work in time by themselves.
