New Carers Coordinator

Updated: Aug 16, 2022

Hello My name is Peta Rahmatalla and I am thrilled to be the new Carers Coordinator for GAVO! My background is in adult social services, working with people with learning difficulties, physical difficulties and those with memory issues and dementia.

Hopefully I will get to meet many of you in the coming months at our activities and away days, all of which will be in the latest Newsletter. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns that I maybe able to help you with or sign post you to some one who can help.

I hope to use this space to keep you updated with any news, developments or changes in actvities in Monmouthshire designed for the carers we support.

If you have any ideas or thoughts about the newsletter, or would like us to share something then please let me know.

We have been asked to share a survey asking our carers to take part in should they wish to do so , please click on the survey link to take part in The state of Caring.

"We are delighted to launch our State of Caring 2022 survey, and we would be really grateful for your help. All the information we get from carers helps us to build a picture of what caring is like at the moment and we are keen to hear from as many different carers as possible.

The State of Caring Survey is the UK’s most comprehensive research into the lives and experience of unpaid carers. We want to understand carers’ priorities for the future and what support they need to help recover from the pandemic, and to create a positive legacy for the future. We will use the evidence to continue to campaign for carers to get better support. We know that our evidence has helped shaped Government policy and has helped commissioners and service delivery organisations look at practice.

We appreciate each and every person who takes the time to complete the survey. We would particularly welcome responses from carers from lesser heard communities, such as carers from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and LGBTQ+ carers.

Together you help us paint a picture of what caring has been like in the last year.

The survey will close on 9 September and we will be releasing a research report in November.

If you have any questions about the research, please get in touch with our policy team by emailing

This is a Carers UK survey and is therefore only available in English"

If there are any support needs that you think would be of use to you but is not available, or you cannot find, then please let me know ,as I may be able to find someone who can help, or arrange something, such as a First Aid course, Manual Handling.

I look forward to hearing from you soon; My contact details are;

01291 675474 Monday-Wednesday.

Peta Rahmatalla
