ORGANISATIONAL
DEVELOPMENT?
Organisational Development (OD) is another term for Capacity Building and is concerned with facilitating positive change in organisations through an evidence based, holistic and humanistic approach that puts people at the heart of the process.
OD support can help you improve the way you do things, build resilience and become more sustainable by enabling your organisation to better respond to internal and external pressures.
WHAT WE OFFER
Organisational Development – we offer a range of interactive off-the-shelf and bespoke workshops tailored to the third sector aimed at building organisational and individual capacity and capability for sustainable resilient organisations. These are offered exclusively to each organisation for all trustees/directors, volunteers and staff.
Professional Development – we provide one-to-one consulting and coaching support for third sector leaders at all levels to develop clarity and build personal confidence and knowledge for effective organisational problem-solving and decision making.
Learning Materials – a range of third sector learning materials to help build the capacity of third sector organisations or community groups to develop and grow.
Community Leadership & Development Training – As you are no doubt aware it is becoming increasingly difficult to employ suitably qualified community development professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to build the capacity and capability of communities and organisations across the third sector, and there are very few courses available at the appropriate level to meet current need. This makes growth and succession planning within the sector increasingly challenging. In response to this, GAVO is considering offering a twelve module ILM certified training programme in Community Leadership & Development. This comprehensive twelve module programme is consistent with the National Occupational Standards in Community Development and can be delivered from ILM Level 3 (A- Level) to Level 5 (second year undergraduate degree).

Our Third Sector Learning & Development Lead is a qualified OD professional with more than twenty years of experience providing OD in the public, private and third sectors. He has also been involved in community development as a volunteer and paid employee since 1995.
​We are excited that he is now able to bring his knowledge and experience to social enterprises, charitable organisations and community groups across Gwent.
