People living, working, or strongly connected to Newport city centre, Maindee and Pill are being encouraged to get involved in shaping the future of their communities.
Earlier this year, Newport was awarded £20 million of UK Government funding through the Pride in Place programme. This investment will support long-term regeneration in key neighbourhoods over the next 10 years and local people will play a central role in deciding how it is used.
Getting involved
Newport City Council is now inviting expressions of interest for:
An independent Chair
Board members representing local communities and stakeholders
The Pride in Place board will lead on developing an investment plan, ensuring funding reflects local priorities and delivers meaningful, lasting change.
This is a valuable opportunity for individuals who:
Are passionate about their local area
Want to represent their community’s views
Can commit time to help guide regeneration plans
Time commitment
Chair: approximately 15 hours per month (fixed term)
Board members: around 5 hours per month (initial four-year term)
The board is expected to begin work in July 2026, with its first task being to develop a strategy and investment plan for government approval later this year.
How to apply
Applications close in early June 2026. Following a selection process, successful applicants will be appointed in time for the first meeting in July.
