GAVO and TVA join forces to strengthen collaboration

“We encourage our member organisations to collaborate, so it’s only right for us to do the same.” – Aimi, CEO of TVA
“We are facing the same challenges, so if we work together, we can be a lot stronger.” – Stephen Tiley, CEO of GAVO

With collaboration at the heart of both organisations’ work, colleagues from GAVO and TVA came together for a joint development day to share experiences, discuss common challenges and explore opportunities to work more closely together.
Getting to know each other
The day kicked off with a game of human bingo, giving colleagues the chance to get to know each other beyond their usual roles. From finding out who loves Marmite to discovering who has missed a flight, the activity sparked plenty of conversation and a lot of laughs along the way!
Through a series of interactive activities and group discussions, colleagues explored the challenges both organisations face, shared what works well across their teams and identified opportunities to learn from each other.

Different perspectives, shared challenges
One of the activities brought everyone together for a human Likert scale, where colleagues physically positioned themselves along an agree-to-disagree scale in response to a series of statements.
The activity highlighted the variety of opinions and perspectives in the room, sparking discussions around topics relevant to the voluntary sector, including:

Social media: How essential is it for engaging communities?
Charity size: Do small charities have a greater impact than large charities?
Artificial intelligence: Will AI have a positive impact on the voluntary sector?
Exploring these questions gave colleagues the opportunity to hear different viewpoints, challenge assumptions and consider how their experiences might shape their approaches to their work.
Discussions also explored where GAVO and TVA could work together to influence change, share good practice and build on their existing relationships.
Building stronger partnerships

Taking time away from day-to-day responsibilities gave colleagues the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and consider how closer working relationships could benefit both organisations and the people they support.
Both GAVO and TVA work alongside voluntary organisations and communities. By sharing knowledge, experience and ideas, we can strengthen our approach to common challenges and identify new opportunities to work together.
A big thank you to everyone at TVA for partnering with GAVO to make the day happen. We look forward to building on the conversations and exploring further opportunities to collaborate.
