GAVO Hits the Road to Support Rogerstone Communities
The GAVO Newport team is taking its support directly into the heart of Rogerstone in 2027, offering local residents, community groups and voluntary organisations a new opportunity to connect, collaborate and grow.
Over recent years, GAVO has identified that some areas of Newport, including Rogerstone, have had lower levels of engagement with the support services available through the organisation. Alongside this, there have been fewer funding enquiries and applications coming from the area than expected. In response, the Newport team is launching a new outreach initiative designed to help local people access advice, funding opportunities, volunteering support and community development resources.
As part of this work, GAVO staff will be attending selected Rogerstone Repair Café sessions at the Welfare Ground throughout the year. These popular monthly events bring local people together to repair household items, learn new skills and strengthen community connections, making them the perfect place to start conversations about new ideas and local projects.
Community organisations already working in Rogerstone, as well as groups looking to offer services or activities in the area, are invited to join GAVO at these events to showcase what they do, meet local residents and explore opportunities for partnership working.

These events are a great opportunity to meet residents, share ideas and help shape future community projects in Rogerstone."
Spaces for organisations wishing to attend are limited, and GAVO will work to ensure that as many groups as possible have the chance to take part throughout the year.
