Grants up to £3000 available to support Newport Community Food Projects during the School Holidays

Writer: Dan Coast Dan Coast

Community food organisations are able to apply for a School summer and October Holiday Food Provision Grant of up to £3000 to support families struggling to provide food through the School Holidays.

Working in an ongoing partnership with GAVO, Newport City Council have made a grant fund available to enable Community Food Organisations to increase their provision throughout the School Holidays. They are particularly keen that households with school aged children who would usually receive free school meals during term time are able to access this additional food provision.

The grant has been kept intentionally flexible and can be used for revenue or capital costs to support this additional provision.

Open to all eligible groups and organisations, we encourage applications from

under-represented communities in particular to apply for up to £3000 to cover related costs such as (but not restricted to):

· Increasing food supplies

· Increasing opening hours and related costs (staffing costs, utilities, room hire, etc)

· Additional cleaning costs/refuse removal

· Additional volunteer expenses

· Equipment/appliances/furniture to support additional provision

· Awareness raising/promotion of additional provision

Full guidance, criteria and an application form can be downloaded by clicking on the links below.

Applications close at 5pm on the 2nd of August.

If you require support to make an application, please contact Claire.Bell@gavo.org.uk
