Newport Community Endowment Fund Now Open

Community groups and organisations across Newport are being invited to apply for funding through the Newport Community Endowment Fund, administered by Community Foundation Wales, is dedicated to enhancing education and strengthening communities across the city, supporting projects that sit outside of statutory provision.


The programme aims to support initiatives that demonstrate a clear and positive impact on local people. Successful applications will show how their work improves educational attainment, encourages lifelong learning from early years through to adulthood, and supports health and wellbeing while building stronger, more connected communities.

Eligible projects must meet at least one of the following themes:

  • Supporting young parents

  • Supporting the development of children in the early years

  • School-based projects that support the educational development of children and promote healthy living

  • Educational attainment and lifelong learning initiatives

  • Projects that promote safer and more inclusive communities

  • Youth projects that improve health and wellbeing

  • Projects that reduce isolation among older people


Grants Available

Grants of between £200 and £2,000 per year are available for up to three years. Funding can be used towards activities, minor capital costs, or core running costs.


Who Can Apply?

Applications are welcome from:

  • Community-based and locally controlled groups

  • Groups that encourage active volunteer participation

  • Parent Teacher Associations

  • Schools delivering projects outside of statutory provision (such as breakfast clubs, after-school activities or community gardening projects)

Please note that Community Interest Companies (CICs) registered within the last 18 months are not eligible to apply.


Important Information

  • Funding cannot be awarded retrospectively for costs already incurred

  • Grants cannot be used to fundraise for other groups or charities

  • Funding must be spent within one year of receiving the offer

  • Applications must clearly demonstrate financial need or additional support requirements

  • Organisations cannot hold more than one grant from the same fund at the same time

  • Applications close Monday 15th June 2026
