WCVA has launched a brand-new Trustee Network designed to support trustees from across Wales to feel informed, connected, and confident in their roles. Following extensive engagement with trustees and voluntary organisations, the network has been shaped directly by the people who will benefit from it.
Why the Network Was Created
Trustees play a vital leadership role in charities and community groups, ensuring organisations act in the best interests of their beneficiaries and meet legal and regulatory responsibilities. However, WCVA recognised that important training and guidance often reaches CEOs but not always trustees themselves — the individuals who carry the greatest accountability.
To address this, WCVA worked with 50 trustees from across Wales, using a co‑production approach to understand their challenges, needs and opportunities. Every participant supported the idea of a dedicated network and helped shape what it should offer.
What the Trustee Network Offers
Trustees told WCVA they wanted practical learning, regular updates, and opportunities for peer connection. As a result, the new network includes:
Webinars
Training opportunities
A regular trustee bulletin
Peer support
In‑person trustee meet‑ups
Online discussion sessions
Access to helpful resources
All of these elements are included free of charge for all WCVA members.
A Network Built on “You Said, We Did”
The Trustee Network has been designed around the direct feedback of trustees, ensuring it remains relevant, supportive, and focused on enabling trustees across Wales to thrive in their roles. The aim is simple: to help trustees feel connected, well‑informed, and confident in their decision‑making.
