Community organisations across Gwent have two key opportunities to apply for financial support through the Police and Crime Commissioner’s (PCC) Community Partnership Fund and Community Engagement Fund. Both initiatives are designed to empower local groups, strengthen community cohesion, and help deliver the priorities set out in the Police, Crime and Justice Plan.

Community Partnership Fund: Supporting Grassroots Community Safety Work

The Community Partnership Fund offers grants of up to £1,000 to support grassroots projects that help build safer, stronger and more connected communities across Gwent. The fund is open to voluntary organisations, charities, community groups and social enterprises whose activities align with the PCC’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan priorities.

Funding can support community‑led activities, local initiatives, and one‑off costs that contribute to safer neighbourhoods. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with decisions usually made within four weeks. The PCC encourages groups to apply early, as the fund pauses once all money for the financial year has been allocated.

Community Engagement Fund: Building Trust and Confidence in Public Services

The Community Engagement Fund provides grants of up to £5,000, specifically aimed at organisations working with marginalised and minoritised communities across Gwent. The fund supports projects that help increase trust and confidence in public services, with a focus on race, disability, gender and sexual orientation.

Eligible applicants include charities, voluntary organisations and community interest companies delivering activities that represent or benefit communities that may be less likely to engage with public services. Like the Partnership Fund, applications are welcomed throughout the year, with around a four‑week turnaround for funding decisions.

A Shared Vision for Safer, Stronger Communities

Both funding streams form part of the PCC’s ongoing commitment to investing in community‑led solutions that address local needs, reduce crime, and strengthen community cohesion. Projects supported through these funds play a vital role in prevention, early intervention, building trust and ensuring that all communities across Gwent feel supported and heard.
