Principality Building Society Future Generations Fund Opens for Applications

Community organisations across Wales that are dedicated to supporting children and young people can now apply for funding through the Principality Building Society Future Generations Fund.

Established in partnership with Principality Building Society, the fund aims to create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of children and young people across Wales. Grants of up to £12,500 are available for one year to help organisations strengthen their core services and provide meaningful support to young people aged up to 25.

Supporting Young People to Thrive

The fund is designed to support organisations that improve opportunities, wellbeing and resilience for children and young people. Funding can be used towards core costs that enable organisations to continue delivering vital services and activities.

Projects and services funded through the programme should contribute to one or more of the following areas:

• Increasing access to healthy food and essential items such as clothing, stationery and technology

• Supporting positive mental health and wellbeing

• Building financial resilience and life skills, including budgeting and saving

• Improving employability, training and skills development

• Encouraging environmental awareness, sustainability and conservation

• Delivering workshops and activities linked to these themes

• Supporting interventions that help pupils and students engage positively with education and future opportunities

Priority will be given to organisations that are increasing accessibility and opportunities for children and young people who are underserved, vulnerable or experiencing disadvantage, including those from protected characteristic backgrounds and those living in Wales’ most deprived communities.

Who Can Apply?

The fund is open to third sector and community organisations operating in Wales, and in some cases organisations based near Principality Building Society branches on the Welsh-English border.

Eligible organisations must:

• Be solely focused on supporting children and young people, or be a protected characteristic-focused organisation applying for work exclusively supporting children and young people

• Have an annual income below £500,000

• Be seeking support for core costs directly related to work with children and young people

• Demonstrate clear outcomes and impact

• Show how funding will provide continuity and stability of support

• Not have received funding from the programme in either of the previous two funding rounds

Eligible organisation types include:

• Constituted groups

• Registered charities and Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs)

• Companies Limited by Guarantee

• Community Interest Companies (CICs)

• Social enterprises

Please note that Community Interest Companies registered within the last 18 months are not eligible to apply.

Funding Available

Approximately 15 organisations are expected to receive funding through this programme, with grants of up to £12,500 available for one year.

Preference may be given to organisations with a strong track record of delivering positive outcomes and making a meaningful difference within their communities.
