Welsh Government Launches Equality and Inclusion Grant Programme to Empower Communities

The Welsh Government has opened applications for its Equality and Inclusion Grant Programme, a funding initiative designed to support third sector organisations and public bodies in promoting equality and inclusion across Wales. This programme aligns with the National Equality Objectives 2024–2028, aiming to uplift individuals with protected characteristics and foster inclusive communities.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include:
Third sector organisations such as community groups, registered charities, and social enterprises.
Local authorities and other public bodies as collaborators.
Faith groups, provided their projects focus solely on tackling inequality and promoting inclusion (not religious activity).
Private sector organisations and businesses are not eligible for this funding.
Types of Grants Available
The programme offers two types of revenue grants:
1. Awareness and Engagement Grant
This grant supports activities that raise awareness of or encourage engagement with protected groups.
Total funding available: £750,000
£500,000 for 2025–2026
£250,000 for 2026–2027
Grant sizes:
Small grants: £2,000 to £9,999
Large grants: £10,000 to £100,000
2. Innovation Grant
Designed to encourage collaboration and innovative approaches to tackling inequality at regional, local, or community levels.
Total funding available: £450,000
£300,000 for 2025–2026
£150,000 for 2026–2027
Grant sizes: £40,000 to £200,000
Application Process
Interested organisations must:
Complete the application form with all supporting documentation.
Deadline: 16 November 2025 at 11:59 PM
