Community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations in Newport are being encouraged to apply for funding to help reduce waste, promote reuse and support the city’s journey towards net zero by 2050.
The Reuse Newport Fund will provide financial support for projects that encourage people to repair, reuse and recycle more, helping to keep valuable items in use for longer while benefiting local communities.
A total of £200,000 is available through the fund, with grants of up to £50,000 per project. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds have been allocated.
Projects must be delivered between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027Â and could include a wide range of activities, such as:
Community repair facilities and workshops
Reuse hubs and charity shops
Libraries of Things where people can borrow tools and equipment
High street venues offering repair and reuse services
Partnerships with social enterprises to create volunteering, training and skills opportunities
Community recycling hubs, including facilities for collecting and reusing small electrical items
The fund is open to:
Registered charities
Not-for-profit organisations
Constituted community and voluntary groups with a group bank account
This funding presents an excellent opportunity for local organisations to develop innovative projects that reduce waste, share resources, build skills and strengthen communities. Whether you're planning a repair café, a tool library, a community reuse shop or another creative initiative, the fund could help bring your ideas to life.
Applications open on 20 July 2026.
