Volunteers' Week is a UK-wide campaign held each year from 1–7 June to celebrate and recognise the incredible contribution volunteers make to our communities. Across Gwent and beyond, volunteers give their time, skills and energy to support local organisations, community groups and charities.

What is Volunteers Week?

Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers, the campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK.

This year’s celebration runs from Monday 1 – Sunday 7 June.

How does your organisation get involved in celebrating the week?

You can use and adapt the resources provided below to create thank you cards, host events, get certificate templates and social media content to use during the week.

We’re especially keen to highlight the stories of your volunteers and the work they do. If you’d like to be featured during Volunteers’ Week, please complete the short form using the button below. Celebrating Volunteers Across Gwent - Share their Story

This Volunteers' Week, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible volunteers who help make a difference every day across Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly and Monmouthshire.

Every volunteer has a story to tell, whether they've been volunteering for years or have only recently started their journey. By sharing these stories, we hope to celebrate the incredible impact volunteers make in our communities every day.

We're also encouraging local organisations and community groups to join the celebration by sharing their own volunteer stories and thanking the people who make their work possible. Sometimes, a simple "thank you" can mean the world.

Our GAVO Monmouthshire Team are out and about in Monmouthshire visiting as many groups and events as possible during the week!

GAVO Volunteering Awards ARE BACK!

Know someone who goes above and beyond? Volunteers' Week nominations are now open. Nominate a volunteer today and help us celebrate the people making a positive difference in our communities.

Volunteer Recognition Certification Scheme

Our Volunteer Recognition Certification Scheme is a great way to celebrate the time and dedication volunteers give to their communities.

Certificates are awarded at 50, 100, 200 and 500 hours of volunteering. For those who make an exceptional contribution, certificates from 1,000 to 5,000 hours are signed by the Lord-Lieutenant of Gwent.

Recognition certificates are a fantastic way to showcase your skills, experience and commitment. The scheme is open to both new and existing volunteers, and registering is simple.
